In this episode we talk to Hana Berres, education training coordinator for Jefferson County Development Services and Debbie Blackburn, a volunteer clean-up coordinator. Hana (who is still battling upper and lower respiratory issues from COVID-19) explains why Jefferson County supports community clean-ups and Debbie talks about what it has done for her community. If you are interested in scheduling one call 205-325-8741. If you want to volunteer visit jccal.org (news boxes, volunteer cleanups) to see the ones coming up. We also share these events on the County Facebook and Next-door pages along with all of our Electronic Recycling days and Hazardous Waste Disposal day. Hana also talks about the County's Grease Recycling program, a map of locations and details can be found here. We didn't get into illegal dumping, that will be another podcast, but you can call and report it at 205-582-6555.
